three-legged chair was originally designed for the Café Costes in Paris. It was
supposedly designed with three legs so that the waiters would have less legs to
trip over!. The shell is available in mahogany or black mahogany and the
leather in black, brown, cream, red and white.

This chair was designed for Cappellini. It is a simple
smooth shape and is available in many colours. It only has three legs, the
front two legs are joined and run through the chair. The Embryo chair was the
first Newson chair to go into production. The Embryo chair looks familiar now,
but its rounded shape was radically new 20 years ago. Newson said “no one was
making things in bright colours that were curvy and seductive and sensual. I’d
been subconsciously developing a style, and with that piece I think I defined
what that style was.”

chair has an extremely minimal form and being made of plywood, is very
affordable. The parts are simply screwed together and the large screws are very
visible, which is unusual. The front legs and seat are straight but the back
and back legs are beautifully curved. It was originally made for the
installation ‘Some New Items for the Home’ in Berlin.

Info - This chair was one of
the earliest furniture designs by
Jasper Morrison. It was
first presented by Zeev Aram at their 23rd Anniversary Show
in 1987 where it was spotted by Giulio Cappellini, who agreed to
manufacture it. It was originally
called the ‘Drinking Man’s Chair’ as the arms have flat drinks holders on them.
It is suitable for outdoor use. It is available in many different colours and
this year a limited edition of 99 pieces of
brass plated ones were introduced.

is it’s defining feature. This chair is stackable and can be used indoors and
